Japan Young City Lady
Japanese doll dressed in a yellow checkered kimono. Checkered kimono's were worn by city ladies at the end of the Edo period (between 1787-1867) while other motifs like flowers were forbidden. The long sleeved kimono (Furisode) tells us that she is a young woman, kimono's with short sleeves are worn by adult women. Size 25 cm. Marked 'Ikkodo Dool, Made in Japan'. Some damage to hands.
