Mongolia 13th Century Costume Dolls

These Mongolian dolls were purchased new through eBay as a present in 2011. The male wears a dagger or knife at the waist with a sheep (ram) head on the handle. They came in a box marked on the back 'Hand Made, Tur-Hands Co. Ltd, Made in Mongolia'. Size 26 cm.

The seller had no other information than that they are wearing costumes from the 13th century. In Mongolia there is a 13th Century Complex (Theme Parks) for tourists to experience life in the Great Mongolian Empire established by Genghis Khan. So maybe these dolls were meant to be sold there as a souvenir.
