Romania Moldavia Iasi Dolls by Arta Crisana

Two Romanian peasant dolls dressed in regional costume from the Iasi county in the Moldavia region (Moldova in Romanian language). The female is holding the wooden remains of something (a jug?) and is marked 'Coop Arta Crisana Oradea, Papusa Taranca Iasi' (Papusa Taranca Iasi meaning Doll Peasant Woman Iasi). The male playing bagpipes or cimpoi is missing his stand and therefore has no label but was identified and marked by the present owner NCDC as coming from Iasi. Size around 23 cm.

Arta Crisana was founded in 1968 and is located in Oradea. This company is specialized in producing folk art like regional dolls, traditional costumes and rugs.
