Mauritius Indo-Mauritian Woman
The population of the island of Mauritius is multi-ethnic due to colonization by the Dutch, French and the British. Under British rule (1810 –1968) many people from India were brought to Mauritius to work on the sugar cane plantations. This doll is wearing a sari and therefore clearly a woman of indian origin. Marked 'Ile Maurice' at her stand. Size 19 cm.
