Romania Bistrita-Nasaud Saxon Doll by Arta Crisana
Romanian peasant doll dressed in Saxon costume from the Bistrita-Nasaud county. Saxons were German ethnic people, some of them migrated to Romania during the 13th century. Marked 'Romania' on stand but missing label. This doll was identified and marked by the present owner NCDC as coming from Bistrita-Nasaud representing a Saxon girl. Size around 21 cm without stand.
Arta Crisana was founded in 1968 and is located in Oradea. This company is specialized in producing folk art like regional dolls, traditional costumes and rugs.
