Sri Lanka Kandy Chief & Wife
Matching pair of dolls made of wood. The male is dressed as a Kandyan Chief or high official. These officials were appointed under colonial British rule and were loyal to the British crown. A new kind of aristocracy was created this way in order to assist the British with the administration of the Kandy territory. Size 24 & 21 cm. No marks.
