2009 Poldermuseum Heerhugowaard The Netherlands
The Poldermuseum is a former water pumping station, now a regional museum. During the summer of 2009 their Vriendenkamer (Friends room) transformed into a Doll room. As the Poldermuseum also serves as a marriage ceremony location there was a special focus on dolls in wedding costume. The rest of this exhibition was based on color rather than origin; dolls were grouped together being mainly red, green, blue and so on.
We have been staring our eyes out this afternoon, did not know there existed so many different national costumes. All gorgeous!
I didn’t know what to expect. It was great to see these dolls. So many countries represented. Fabulous!!!
Stunning, diverse and most of all colorful collection. Worth an article in the Antiek & Verzamelkrant magazine.
Well organised display, great exhibition. An ethnological impression. I enjoyed it…
