Australia Doll Swagman
Australian swagman doll. Unemployed men carrying the traditional swag travelled by foot from farm to farm to earn a living by doing temporary jobs, particularly during the depressions of the 1890’s and 1930’s. Corks dangling from his hat keep the flies away. A rolled-up blanket is on his back. Marked ‘Australia Swagman’ in handwriting under his stand.
Folklore is in the air… uhm… ear!

Postcard
No postcard available. There should be a nice postcard here that matches this doll, to show you how the people living in Australia are dressed in their traditional costume.
There is nothing suitable in our postcard books at the moment, too bad!
Happy collecting,
